Description of Resource: This series of three Fact Sheets, originally developed for the U.S. Department of Education's Student Mentoring initiative, provides mentoring programs and mentors themselves with basic information about youth development principles and how to build them into mentoring settings and relationships.Mentoring refers to relationships and activities that occur between a mentee (in this review youth under 18) and an older more experienced person (i.e., mentor; often a nonparental adult) who are serving in a non-professional helping and supportive capacity to promote positive mentee outcomes.
