Jun 27, 2018 · The governor setting can adjusted, but by changing the hole the spring is connected to. IMO, the two are completely different things. A governor works to limit RPMs. A throttle stop works to limit power. So if you back out the throttle stop and gain RPMs, it is because the engine is making more power and you are still under the governor setting. With the governor taken out of the equation, your throttle cable spring can hold the throttle closed; then adjust your idle screw to open the throttle just enough to hold a steady idle rpm. This will at least let you determine whether the governor mod may be to blame. I wanted to increase the governor speed to about 4500 rpm. I first adjusted the throttle stop screw and that got me 3800 rpm. I watched several videos and the only thing they really showed was how to bypass the governor. Today we remove the governor from a predator 212.
