The Volkspistole or “People’s Pistol” was a crude 9mm handgun that was to be mass-produced and distributed to militia units, as well as Germany’s civilian population in advance of the 1945 Allied invasion of the Fatherland.Sorge does state that members of the Volksstrum fought fanatically, and perhaps effectively as detailed by U.S 100th Infantry Division, although I am not sure how accurate this word is. However, it is important to note that the Volksstrum was not only composed of WWI veterans but also of males from 16-60 who had not been previously conscripted.
